Rudy Fernandez targeted by Real Madrid basketball

According to blazersedge.com this morning, Blazers swingman Rudy Fernandez is now being eyed by the basketball club Real Madrid in his hometown Spain. Should there be a NBA lockout next season, I would imagine Rudy wouldn’t think twice about leaving Portland to go play back home. And it seems like Spain really want Rudy to come back, really bad:

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has a crush on Rudy Fernandez and during the last Euroleague Final Four played in Barcelona the guard was told that if he leaves the NBA, Madrid will open the doors for him, red carpet included.

Perez wants Rudy to be the “Cristiano Ronaldo of basketball.” It doesn’t matter if he has to pay him a salary much higher than anyone else on the roster. He tried last summer and he couldn’t make it. He’s trying again.

The Cristiano Ronaldo of basketball? Please.
